he word shirodhara, comes from the Sanskrit language, meaning head ('shiro') and flow ('dhara'). In Ayurveda, Shirodhara means the flow of warm oil on the head.
Shirodhara is known for its curative as well as rejuvenating properties, eliminating disease and improving vitality. In this treatment, the entire body is massaged with warm oil and then the client lies down in a supine position (on the back) and warm medicated oil is released from vestibule above the head and applied to the forehead ('third eye').
